Clifford Bygrave Sewell was the eldest son of Henry E. B. Sewell (a Sugar Merchant) and Mary Perring (nee Cheston), He was educated at Aldenham School .


The family lived in Barnet and also Southgate

Wartime Service

Clifford joined 4th Battalion Royal Fusiliers early in the Great War.


He went to Egypt in Aug 1915 and took part in the Gallipoli Campaign. Clifford was killed in action with the Battalion in an attack Leuze and the Quadrilateral during many of the battles of the Somme.

Additional Information

His younger brother Geoffrey also served in 4th Battalion Royal fusiliers and was with Clifford in Gallipoli. He was killed in action on 21 Dec 1917.
