Albert was born in Radwell, Hertfordshire, in 1895. The son of Noah and Phoebe Carter. Baptised on 31st March 1895, in Radwell, Herts.

1901 Census: Albert is recorded as aged 6,living with his parents, sisters Martha 11 and Elizabeth 8, in Rectory Lane, Radwell, Herts.

By 1911 Albert had left school and was working as a Farm Labourer, still living at home with his parents, sisters Martha and Elizabeth in Radwell, Herts.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Bedford, Bedfordshire, initially he was posted to the Suffolk Regiment with the S/N 45190. Then transferred to the Bedfordshire Regiment with the S/N 40626.

Albert was Killed in Action on 25th March 1918, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial to the missing.
