His father was Frank B Sharp, and home was in High Street, Buntingford. His father was a Tailor (Retail Proprietor). Fred was born on 27th April 1895 in Buntingford.


He attended Buntingford Elementary and then Hertford (Hale's) Grammar from 20th January 1910 to 29th July 1911. When he left school, he had a clerkship.

Wartime Service

He originally enlisted in the 1st Hertfordshire Regiment and on 26 September 1917 he was commissioned and transferred to the 10th Middlesex Regiment.

He was killed in action in northern France.
