Pre War

Ernest was born around 1898. In 1901 Ernest was living in Lilley with his parents Henry and Lucy Annie. He was also living with his siblings, Walter, Arthur and Herbert. Ernest also had a sister called Florence. 


In 1911 he was living at Saunder's Yard Lilley. He was Living with his parents and siblings, Walter, Arthur, Herbert and Stanley. His father was a horse keeper on a farm. 


Before he enlisted Ernest was a labourer. 


Wartime Service

Ernest enlisted at the age of 18 years and 6 months. At the time of his enlistment the family lived at White Hill Stopsley. He enlisted on 10th December 1916. He was mobilised on 19th May 1917. Ernest’s body was never found.


His father received his medals on 20/07/1921.
