Frank was born on 22 May 1898 (baptised 30 Jul 1898) in Little Amwell to Frank Childs, a labourer, and Emily (nee Todd), a laundress.
On the 1901 Census Frank was living with his parents at 16 London Road, Little Amwell.
Wartime Service
Frank’s Service Record was not found but some details are available. Frank initially enlisted as Private G/81679 in the Royal Fusiliers and was later transferred to the 9th (Service) Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment as Private G/ 19111.
Frank probably went to France in 1917 as part of a draft of reinforcements and may have taken part in the Battles of Arras and Passchendaele in 1917. He was killed in action on 29 Jul 1918 which may have in the later stage of the German Spring Offensive.

War Gratuity of £3 10s and arrears of £6 17 s 6d was paid to his Aunt Phoebe.
