Pre War

Born in 1897 in Stepney, London son of Thomas Gibbs Clark and Catherine (Ellis) Clark and was living at Red House Road, Ware in 1911.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hertford probably in 1916 and was killed in action on the Somme during an attack on Malz Horn Farm from Bernafay Wood. In what was judged to be a successful operation, 6 officers and 186 men were killed or wounded.

Additional Information

Brother of Private George Constantine Clark who was killed in action on 3 Jul 1917 and is also commemorated on these memorials.
