Elder brother of Charles Smith, born about 1882, lived with father and 2 other brothers Harry and Fred, Edward was also a farm labourer.
Wartime Service
Enlisted in the Army and posted to 98th Brigade, Royal Garrison Artillery. He may have died of illness as his records do not show him having been killed in action or died of wounds and there were a number of pneumonia cases in his unit.
