Son of the late Henry and Jane COLLIER of Maidstone, Kent; husband of Catherine (nee HARRIGAN) COLLIER of Watford.
His parent’s marriage is proving elusive. Henry died 1884 in Watford aged 51, and was buried 15 April in Vicarage Road Cemetery; Jane died 1907 in Shenley, Herts, aged 71, and was buried 5 December at St Mary’s, Shenley.
William was born 10 March 1867 in Maidstone, and baptised 10 September 1871 at St Mary’s, Watford. He attended Victoria Boys’ School, Watford, from 20 April 1874 to 25 October 1875. He married 1897 in the Watford district; they had five children. He resided in Watford, and was buried 14 March. Catherine never remarried; she died 1952 in Watford aged 83, and was buried 18 January, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
On the 1871 Census, aged 3 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1881 Census, aged 14 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling. On the 1891 Census, a painter aged 25, he was a lodger in Watford. On the 1901 Census, a house painter aged 34, he still lived in Watford, with his wife and one child. On the 1911 Census, a house painter aged 44, he still lived in Watford, with his wife and four children.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Watford; appears to have no medals, and died at the Minories Institute, New Kent Road, London S.E.

Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
