Frederick Collins was born on 5th November 1880, in Oxhey, Herts, son of Richard Collins a Painter and Ann Collins (nee Wingfield). The youngest of three children. He was Baptised on 9th January 1881, in the Parish of Oxhey, Herts.
1881 Census records Frederick aged 4 months living with his parents, at 2, Pine Cottages, Watford, Herts.
1891 Census records Frederick aged 10, living with his parents, brothers Herbert 16, and Robert 14, at 112 Pinner Road, Watford. His grandmother Charlotte Wingfield is living with the family.
Frederick attended Watford, Victoria Boy's School, from October 1887 to September 1891.
His father Richard Collins died in January 1900, aged 50.
1901 and 1911, Census's record Richard continuing to live at home with his widowed mother at 112 Pinner Road, Oxhey, Herts. His occupation in 1901 was Plasters Labourer and 1911 a Bricklayers Labourer.
Frederick married Lizzie Brown the daughter of James Brown on 12th September 1912, in Abbots Langley, Herts.
His mother Ann Collins died in 1913, aged 69.
Wartime Service
Frederick enlisted in Watford, Posted to the Norfolk Regiment with the Service No.12213. He landed in France on 30th May 1915, serving with the 7th Battalion.
He was wounded in action and died of his wounds at No.2 Stationary hospital in Abbeville, on 23rd October 1915, aged 33. He was buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery in France.
He is commemorated on the memorial at Bushey & Oxhey Methodist Church and St Matthew's Church, Oxhey.

His wife, Mrs, L. Collins of 112 Pinner Road, Oxhey, Watford, Herts. ordered his headstone inscription: "IN EVER LOVING MEMORY OF MY DARLING HUSBAND UNTIL THE DAY BREAKS" The value of his effects were £3-16s-4d, Pay Owing and £4-10s-0d, War Gratuity which went to his widow Lizzie. Lizzie received a widows pension of 10/- a week. Son of the late Richard and Ann Collins, of Oxhey; husband of Lizzie Collins, of 112, Pinner Rd., Oxhey, Watford, Herts.
