Pre War
Born in 1898 in Eastbourne, Sussex, youngest son of George and Rosina Collins. 1911 Census: living with family at The Princess of Wales public house, Post Office Row, Weston, Herts and was a schoolboy.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hitchin. Killed in action during the third battle of Ypres.
Additional Information
War gratuity of £5 awarded to father George. Brother to Albert George Collins also named on the memorial. Another brother, Henry George, was badly injured. He suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and his right arm was amputated.
He died in 1923 of pulmonary tuberculosis at the County tuberculosis sanatorium in Ware, aged 28.
