Born in 1881 in Kentish Town, London son of John William and Lucy Smith and was living in the Boot Public House, Tower Hill, Chipperfield in 1901.
He married Alma Rose Wright in 1905 and they lived in 16 Riverside, Folly, Hertord and had three children in 1911.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford and was killed in action at Passchendaele during the Battle of Pilkem Ridge.
