Pre War
*1 On the St Albans memorials there is a W Cooper on the St Albans Citizens Memorial, a W S Cooper on St Saviour's Church Memorials) and a William Cooper on the Town Hall (old) Memorial and the High Street, street memorial (London Road). Two men with similar names have been identified with a connection to St Albans: Walter James Cooper (19138) and William George Cooper (11947). No W S Cooper has yet been found with a connection to At Albans. Currently, it seems that William is that man commemorated in the Town and High Street, memorials, but could also be on other memorials and Walter could be the man commemorated on any of the memorials, except the Town Hall and High Street memorials. More information is required to confirm who is commemorated on the St Albans Citizens and St Saviour’s memorials.
The Soldiers Died In The Great War database records that he was born in Redbourn, Herts. and was living in St Albans, Herts. when he enlisted in Bedford.
