Henry Thomas was the sixth child of Thomas Henry Snow, a master builder, and Annie (nee Rogers) of Willows Farm Stocking Pelham. Henry Thomas was baptised in Furneux Pelham on 29th December 1895. In the 1911 census, Henry Thomas was 15 and described as a builder’s labourer, presumably working for his father.
Wartime Service
Henry enlisted at Bishops Stortford, initially as 2886 in the Hertfordshire Regiment. This would have placed him in ‘C’ company. He later transferred to become G/15541 in the 11th battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment. At the time of his death, the battalion were fighting at Pilckem Ridge in the third Battle of Ypres.
