Pre War

Born in 1890 in Ware, Herts, son of James Henry and Annie Spencer (nee Collins) who lived at Trinity Road, Ware on 1901 Census and later at 11 Musley Lane, Ware, Herts. On 1911 Census he was living at Houndswood, Radlett, Herts and working as a servant - domestic gardener. Married Constance Louisa Tyler on 3 July 1915. She later married Arthur Afford and lived at The Cottage, Westlea, Wormley, Herts.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hertford, entered France on 30 Aug 1915 and went missing in action and was presumed killed in France.

Additional Information

Widow Constance received a war gratuity of £20 10s.
