Born on 21 May 1884 in Canterbury, Kent son of John Cowell A.R.I.B.A. and Jessie Elizabeth Cowell.


Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1893-1900 and became a commercial artist. He lived at 140 Rodenhurst Road, Clapham Park, London.

Wartime Service

Enlisted on 19 Mar 1916 in Clapham and entered France in Sep 1916 and survived the Battle of the Somme.


He was wounded on 17 Apr 1917 at the Battle of Arras and died in hospital one week later.
