Born on 8 Jun 1872 in George Town, British Guiana. He married Helen Holmes of Wimbledon Park, London on 19 Jun 1900 and had one son.

Wartime Service

Enlisted on 1 Sep 1915 in Scotland Yard, London and served in India 25 Feb 1916 to 21 Feb 1917. He fell ill on service with disabling vertigo, was repatriated to UK on Hospital Ship Letitia and admitted to University College Hospital, London where a brain tumour was diagnosed and operated on. He was discharged from the Army on 19 Jun 1917 and died after discharge at St Dunstan’s Hospital.
