Born in Great Hormead in 1894 youngest son of Walter and Annie Spicer, of Great Hormead, Buntingford, Herts. Living there in 1911 as a farm labourer. Enlisted in Royston and recorded as a resident of Great Hormead.

Brother of Walter died 26th Mar 1915, and William, died 13th Aug 1916, Spicer all listed on this same memorial; the only three sons of Walter and Annie Spicer.
