Pre War

Born on 29 Oct 1879 son of Thomas Henry and Annie Browne of Lewisham. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1890-94. He joined the Merchant Navy.

Wartime Service

On the outbreak of war he enlisted in the submarine section of the Royal Navy and after serving for a time returned to the Merchant Navy. He died when the SS Elswick Park was lost at sea between Philadelphia and Santos, Brazil carrying coal. The cause of the loss is not known.
