Born on 9 Apr 1881 in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire son of Maj. Francis Arthur Bouverie Talbot (Oxford and Bucks Light Inf.) and Mrs Alice Mary Beatrice (Lawford) Talbot. Educated at Haileybury College 1895-98. He married Dorothy Maynard Gibbons of The Grove, Freshford, Bath on 30 Sep 1908 in Weybridge and had two daughters. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in the Bedfordshires on 26 Jun 1901 from the Hertfordshire Militia. Promoted Lieutenant 23 Mar 1904 and transferred to the Indian Army on 23 Apr 1904. He became Captain on 2 Apr 1909. Served in South Africa 1900-02.

Wartime Service

Entered France in Sep 1914 with the Indian Expeditionary Force. He was slightly injured at Neuve-Chapelle in Mar 1915, but remained on duty and was made temporary Major. Mentioned in despatches (31 May 1915).

He was fatally injured in the second battle of Ypres on 26 Apr 1915 and died at a Casualty Clearing Station at Hazebrouck.

Additional Information

Brother of 2nd Lieutenant Reginald Fitzroy Talbot who was killed in action on 27 Aug 1918 and is also commemorated on these memorials.
