Edward was born 1889 in Redbourn, and married 2 December 1915 at St Michael’s, Watford. He resided in Watford. Florence remarried 27 September 1919 at St Michael’s, Watford, to Charles Edward HART.

He was a watercress labourer living in Whippendell Road, Watford in 1911 and then married Florence M Baker, of 31, Middle Way, Harebreaks, Watford, Herts. 2 December 1915 at St Michael’s, Watford.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Hertford; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 30 July 1915, and was killed in action in the front line near Contalmaison.

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Edward’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.

There is a brief article about Edward in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 22 July 1916.

Edward is also commemorated on his brother Charles' grave at St Mary's, Redbourn. His part of the inscription reads:
