Born on 23 Feb 1865 and baptised on 29 Mar 1865 in Umritsur, Bengal, India son of Maj. Gen. Alfred and Helen (Twine) Wintle. Educated at the United Services College 1876-80. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Indian Army on 6 Feb 1884 and appointed Lieutenant Colonel commanding the 12th Cavalry on 6 Feb 1910. He married in 1893 in Kensington, London.

Wartime Service

He was killed in action at Nasiriyah in Mesopotamia.

Additional Information

United Services College, Westward Ho, Devon amalgamated with Imperial Service College in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
