Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Born on 10 Jun 1880 in Farndreg, Dundalk, Ireland son of James and Mary Barton. Educated at Haileybury College 1894-1898. Mentioned in Dispatches (10 Sep 1901). Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Royal Irish Rifles on 19 Oct 1901 from the Militia and transferred to the Indian Army on 18 Nov 1903. Promoted Lieutenant 19 Jan 1904 and Captain on 27 Feb 1909 he served in South African 1900–02.

Wartime Service

He was killed in action at Laventie.
