Born on 9 Mar 1887 in Hendon, Middlesex son of Frank Walter and Marie Louise Purser of 1 Circus Road Mansions, Circus Road, St. John's Wood, London. Scholar of Uppingham School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was an English tutor in the Royal Naval College, Osborne in 1901 and 1911 and was later living at Haileybury College possibly as a member of staff.

Wartime Service

Commissioned Lieutenant RM Cyclist Company 25 Dec 1914, transferred to R.N.V.R on 19 Apr 1915. Drafted with Nelson Bn. for the Expeditionary Force on 7 Jul 1916. Was invalided to UK with an abscess in the right leg on 27 Dec 1916. Returned to Nelson Bn. on 23 Nov 1917. He was killed by a sniper while touring the line amongst his men.
