Born on 4 Feb 1898 at Clacton-on-Sea, Essex son of Dr. Percy and Florence M. H. (Scott) Coleman of Riemore Lodge. Educated at Haileybury College 1911-15, where he swam and played rugby for the school, and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 7 Apr 1916 and acted as bombing instructor at Felixstowe. Entered France with the Expeditionary Force on 7 Mar 1917 and was killed in action between Vimy and Avion while leading his men into the enemy trenches.
