Born on 10 Jun 1885 and baptised in Jul 1885 at Ootacamund, Madras, India eldest son of James Edward Ponsonby and Annie Jane (Ryan) Steel later of 6 Castle Hill Road, Dover, England. Educated at the United Services College 1900-03. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Indian Army on 29 Nov 1905 and promoted to Lieutenant on 29 Feb 1908.

Wartime Service

Killed in action at Nanyati, German East Africa.

Additional Information

United Services College, Westward Ho, Devon amalgamated with Imperial Service College in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
