Pre War

Born on 21 Jan 1886 in Upton Pyne, Devon son of the Rev. Prebendary the Hon. John Stafford and Hilda Cardew Northcote. Educated at Haileybury College 1900-01. Was District Engineer in United Provinces, India.

Wartime Service

Joined the Indian Army Reserve of Officers and landed at Basra on 21 Dec 1915. Was wounded on 15 Jan 1916 but returned to his unit in Feb 1916. Killed in action after the Battle of Es Sinn.

Additional Information

Brother of Captain Edward Stafford Northcote who was killed in action on 3 Sep 1916 in France and is also commemorated on this memorial.
