Born on 28 Feb 1884 in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, India and baptised on 12 Apr 1884 in Madras son of Alexander William and Bessie (Elizabeth Preston) Brodie. Educated at Haileybury College 1899-1900. Obtained his first commission as 2nd Lieutenant, British Officer in the Indian Army on 27 Jan 1904. He married Ethel Willoughby Osborne on 9 Apr 1910 in Bombay, India.

Wartime Service

Promoted to Lieutenant on 27 Apr 1906. Died while a prisoner of war in Turkey.
