Pre War

Born on 24 Jun 1883 in Peterborough, Northamptonshire son of the Rev Thomas Kynaston and Horatia Octavia (Hugo) Gaskell. Educated at Haileybury College 1897-1900. He married Mary Agatha Folds in 1914 and lived at Ashdale, Cleardown, Woking. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Indian Army 22 Oct 1902 promoted Captain on 22 Oct 1911.

Wartime Service

Having fought on the Western Front in 1914, the battalion sailed for German East Africa. He was killed in action at Nanyabi.

Additional Information

Brother of Lieutenant Commander Gerald Bruce Gaskell RN who was killed in action at the Battle of Coronel, Chile on 1 Nov 1914.
