Pre War

Born in 1886 in Islington, London son of William John and Hannah Thomas. He married Edith Maud Watson, of The Bank, Therfield, Royston, Herts. on 12 Sep 1909 in Islington. They were living in 20 Cromer Street, Gray’s Inn Road, Islington in 1911 with one daughter. He worked as a carman.


He was employed by I Beer & Sons Smithfield E C.


His wife was the daughter of James and Jane Watson. She had five brother who served, two of whom, Ernest and Frederick died 

Wartime Service

His memorial plaque records that he “Served with distinction in the Auxiliary Horse Transport, Salonica". He died after a severe illness in Greece.
