Additional Information

His widow Agnes ordered his headstone while living at 38 High Oak Road, Ware Herts., it read: "At Rest With The Lord".

On the 11th of November 1916, his widow placed a message to her husband in the Hertford Mercury:

Farewell! beloved and brave
Your last 'march past' is o'er
Now resting in a soldier's grave
Far from your native shore:
Into the field of battle
he nobly took his place,
He gave his life for England
And the honour of his race.
