If this is the correct soldier, he was born Blofield, Norfolk about 1890, the younger of two children of Henry and Ann.


In 1901 the family had moved to High Road, Wormley, his father was a gardener and his mother a laundress. By 1911, he was now living with his widowed mother in Beaumont, Wormley and he was employed as a stockman.

Wartime Service

He went to France 5th November 1914.

CWGC shows only one soldier named Birt. He is named as William Thomas and his parents living in Sussex. Soldiers died on Ancestry shows William Thomas Birt as being born in Camberwell and living in Peckham. There is no Thomas William Birt shown.
