William Biddulph Hind son of Thomas Dyer Hind and his wife Lily.

Additional Information

Not found on CWGC. The family have told us that he was home on leave with his parents in Bengeo when he died, about 2 weeks after he died the military came to get him as AWOL and his father directed them to the graveyard. His father was a master gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery.


He person headstone (not CWGC) bears the inscription:

"WILLIAM BIDDULPH HIND LATE SARGE INNIS. FUSL AND R.G.A. DIED JANUARY 26TH 1916 AGED 21 YEARS.
SERVED HIS KING AND COUNTRY. SERVANT OF GOD, WELL DONE.
ONLY AFTER REMOVED AND THAT STEP INTO BLISS OUR OWN SON DEARLY LOVED WHOM HERE ON EARTH WE MISS.”

The headstone also refers to his father, Thomas Hind (died 1927) and Annie Maria Hind (died 1960).
