Pre War
Basil was the only son of Frank Basil and Harriet Grove, born in Hertford on the 29th of September 1898. He was educated at Regent Street Polytechnic in London. At the outbreak of war he was apprenticed to the Motoring business.
Wartime Service
He joined the Middlesex Territorials on the 20th of September 1915 and served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in Egypt and Palestine from the 12th of January 1915.
Basil was killed in action at Gaza on the 19th of April 1917.
