Pre War

Joseph Henry Marston was born in St Saviour, Southwark in 1875 in to Fredrick Marston and Ellen (nee Mears).


On the 1891 Census the family of parents, Edwin (born 1875), Joseph, Frederick (born 1878), Charles (born 1880), Maude (born 1888) and Edith (1891) were living at 2, Langford Road, Fulham, London.


No record of the family on 1881 and 1901 Censuses.


Joseph married Lilian Emily Wright on 13 Mar 1902 on Bow, London.


On the 1911 Census the family of Joseph, Emily with children Florence (born 1906) and Frederick (born 1909) at 5 Kilkie Street, Fulham, London.

Wartime Service

Joseph joined the Royal Flying Corps on 6 Sep 1917 as Air Mechanic 3, he gave his occupation as fish frier & curer.  On the formation of RAF on 1 Apr 1918 his rank became Private 2. He was posted to School of Technical Training.at Halton. He died on 16 Jul 1918 at Tring Isolation Hospital.

Additional Information

War Gratuity of £5 and arrears o£ £9 8s 5d was paid to his widow.
