Percy George Clark was born in 1890 in Hexton, Hertfordshire, the son of Edward and Lucy Clark, and baptised on 16 November 1890 at St Faith's Church, Hexton. He was one of three children. 


On the 1891 Census the family were living in Village Street, Hexton where his father was working as a agricultural labourer. cowman. By 1901 they had moved to Biscot, Limbury, Luton, Beds and his father was then described as a stockman on a farm. The family remained in Biscot in 1911 at which time Percy was working as a milkman. 


His parents later lived at 7a Marsh Road, Leagrave, Luton. 

Wartime Service

Percy enlisted in Luton and initially joined the 14th Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment under reg. no. 5748. later transferring to the 20th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). 


He was killed in action on 16 April 1917 during the Battle of Arras and is buried in Heninel-Croisilles Road Cemetery, France. 

Additional Information

His father received a war gratuity of £3 10s and pay owing of £2 9s 0d. His mother received a pension of six shillings a week. 


N.B. the surname of Clark is spelt with an 'e' on some records.
