Gerald Lisle Alexander was born 1889 in Wimbledon, Surrey to Alexander Rougement, an undewriter, and Mathilda Emma Harriet (nee Smith). On the 1891 Census the Family were living at ‘Beechfield’, Church Road Chertsey. By the 1901 Census Gerald’s father had retired and the family were living at ‘Kinterbury’, Newton Abbot, Devon. On the 1911 Census the family were living at Kildare Gardens, Paddington, London. Gerald was employed as an articled clerk. At some time he moved to Harpenden, living at Milton Road and died on 10 Aug 1919.

Wartime Service

Gerald enlisted in Royal Army Service Corps as Private 164746. The prefix DM2 was added to his serial number indicating that he was a Driver Motor Transport Learner. He was promoted to Corporal. He survived the war.
