Currently we have insufficient information to positively identify this soldier. The St Albans Cathedral Diocese records give his name only as C Wells, suggest a connection to Harpenden and that he was a Private in the Essex Regiment.
So far we have only found one man who fits this information and that is Private 18636, Cecil John Wells, however we have yet to find any connection to Harpenden or Hertfordshire.
