Additional Information

William's body was found at map ref. R15 B8.4 and exhumed for concentration burial at Fifteen Ravine British Cemetery on 12 Nov. 1919. His body appears to have been identified by his rank and his unit/regiment.


William is also commemorated on the family headstone in Aspenden (St. Mary) churchyard in Aspenden, his inscription reads:

“. . .  In loving memory of William Poulton
‘The Beloved Husband of Alice Poulton Killed in action on the Cambrai Front Dec. 15th 1917. Age 33
."
