Biography

Walter Bennett was first recorded in the October 1914 Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour, serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was recorded with the same unit throughout the remainder of the War. Little more is known about William as his Service Record has not survived.

He was born at Abbots Langley in the winter of 1889 the oldest of three sons born to John and Edith Bennett of 18 Adrian Road, Abbots Langley. John was recorded working as an Attendant at the Asylum in the 1901 and 1911 Census.

William and his two brothers, Frederick Arthur and Ernest James Bennett all survived the War.
