Biography

Frederick Davison was born in the spring of 1878 at Preston. He was the son of Thomas and Alice Davison. In the 1891 Census Thomas’ occupation was described as a River Bargeman, and the couple had six sons and three daughters. In the 1901 Census Frederick’s father was away from the family home, boarding in Lancaster with one of his sons. Frederick and five brothers and sisters lived with his mother in Preston, and Frederick was employed as a Police Constable.

In the spring of 1901 Frederick married Margaret Davison at Preston, and in the summer of 1902 their first child, a son, Thomas Henry Davison was born. In the 1911 Census the family was recorded living at 22 Asylum Cottages, Abbots Langley, and Frederick was employed as an Asylum Attendant.

The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour recorded Frederick serving with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) in October 1914. His Medal Roll noted that he disembarked in France on 30th June 1915. Frederick was recorded in the Abbots Langley Roll of Honour each month throughout the War.

His son, Thomas Henry Davison, was recorded in the Abbots Langley Roll of Honour in October 1918, serving with the Royal Navy.

Both Frederick and Thomas Davison survived the War.
