Biography

Norman Easton was born at Bayswater in 1894. By the time of the 1901 Census he was living in Abbots Langley. His mother Florence had remarried. Florence and her farmer husband Henry Atkinson lived in Abbots Road. The couple had three sons and a daughter, and three servants.

The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour first listed Norman in October 1914, when he was serving with the Old Public School and University Men’s Force. By June 1915 he had been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was serving with the 10th Devonshire’s, and a year later in July 1916 had moved on to the Armoured Car Service. By January 1917 Norman had returned to the Devonshire’s and served with the 4th Battalion before returning to the Armoured Car Service by January 1918, and ending the War with the Tank Corps.

Norman Easton survived the War.
