Biography
Thomas Ford was born at Banbury in 1887. Five years later on 29th October 1892 his Mother, Elizabeth married James Botwright, a Farmer’s son from Bedmond. The family settled down at Bedmond, and James and Elizabeth had two more sons and two daughters. At the time of the 1901 Census Thomas worked as an Agricultural Labourer.
The Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour recorded Thomas for the first time in June 1917 serving with a Reserve Battalion. At some point in 1917 he was posted to the Queen’s Royal West Sussex Regiment, and he served with this unit for the remainder of the War.
Thomas was listed in the Autumn 1918, Spring 1919, and Autumn 1919 Absent Voter Records serving with the 19th Battalion of the Queen’s Royal West Sussex Regiment, and his home address was given at Asylum Road, Abbots Langley.
Thomas Ford survived the War, as did his step-brother Walter Botwright.
