Biography

Kendal Sadler was born in the autumn of 1898 at Clapton. He was one of five children (one son and four daughters) born to John and Gabrielle Sadler. In 1901 the family lived at Hackney. His father worked as an Artist and Journalist. By 1911 the family had moved to Abbots Road, Abbots Langley, however Kendal was not living at the family home as he was probably away at Boarding School.

Kendal was first recorded in the Abbots Langley Parish Magazine Roll of Honour in December 1917, serving with the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), and was recorded with that unit each month through to the end of the War.

Kendal Sadler survived the War. He had four cousins that all served too. David, Geoffrey and John all survived, however William was killed in action at Hill 60, near Ypres in April 1915.
