Biography

John Gilbert was listed in the Leavesden Asylum Roll of Honour that was published in the Hertfordshire Advertiser on 17th October 1914. In the same month the Leavesden Parish Magazine noted that John Francis Grey Gilbert had been wounded in action.

Very little other information has been found about John Gilbert, however he was recorded in the Leavesden Roll of Honour which is displayed at All Saints Church.

The Leavesden records also show that John was baptised on 17th June 1883 at Cecil Lodge, and that at that time his father’s occupation was noted as a “Gentleman”.

It is presumed that James Gilbert survived the War.
