Brian James Brett Walch was born 7 Nov 1893 to William Crosby Walch, Farmer and Mabel (nee Perkins in Hobart, Tasmania. He had 1 sister and 2 brothers.


The Family had returned to England some time prior to the outbreak of war.

Wartime Service

Brian was gazetted as 2nd Lieutenant on 17 Feb 1915 to 4th Battalion Essex Regiment. He went to Gallipoli 28 Sep 1915 and was killed in action 28 Oct 1915.

Additional Information

His headstone reads: "THEIR GLORY SHALL NOT BE BLOTTED OUT".

His Brothers also served;
Stanley William Walch born16 Feb 1890 was a private with the Royal Fusiliers, served in France and was killed in action 3 May 1917.
Lionel John Walch born 6 Oct 1897 served with RASC in WW1 and continued afterwards until he died at Dunkirk in 1940
