Watford Borough Roll of Honour

Pre War

A Bertie GREEN was born 1895 in Kilburn, Middx, and married 1912 in the Watford district.  He resided in Watford.

Son of Rosetta Saker (nee BENNETT) and the late George HALL (?); husband of Maud/Maude (nee DOWN) HALL.

George and Rosetta married 24 October 1897 at St Luke’s, West Kilburn.  George died 1912 in the Edmonton, Middx, district aged 71; Rosetta died 1927 in the Beverley, Yorks, district aged 67.

On the 1901 Census, aged 6 he lived in Willesden, Middx, with his parents and no siblings.  On the 1911 Census, Albert GREEN a van boy aged 16, still lived in Willesden, with his parents and no siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in London, and was formerly 12078 Royal Berkshire Regiment.  He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.  

Additional Information

There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Albert in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 4 August 1917.

Unfortunately, Albert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
