Son of Henry Tom and Agnes Jane (nee POTTS) LONG; husband of Catherine Gertrude LONG.
His parents married 1875 in the Isle of Wight district. Henry died 9 October 1931 in Liverpool aged 78; Agnes maybe died 1936 in the Worthing, Sussex, district aged 85.
Leonard was born 1886 in Eastbourne, Sussex [not Watford], but his marriage is proving elusive.
On the 1891 Census, he lived in Battersea, London, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 14 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, he is proving elusive.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, and was formerly Private 228 London Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Leonard in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 13 October 1917.
Leonard is recorded as serving in the London Regiment in the Borough Roll of Honour (a former regiment).
Unfortunately, Leonard’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
