Son of William and Rose Jane (nee HOUPS or HODGE) PICTON.

His parents married 17 April 1882 at St Martin’s, Kentish Town, London.  William died 1918 in Watford aged 61, and was buried 11 November in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Rose died 1949 in the Surrey South Western district aged 90.  There is a Death announcement for William in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 16 November 1918.

Albert was born 1 October 1885 in Camden Town, London, and baptised 22 April 1886 at Holy Trinity, Haverstock Hill, London.  He resided in Watford.

He has an entry in the National Probate Calendar.

On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 6 he lived in Camden, with his parents and one sibling.  On the 1901 Census, a baker aged 16, he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a baker aged 26, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and no siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Watford, and was formerly Private 1858 Royal Field Artillery and Private 1858 Northamptonshire Regiment.  He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Albert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
