Son of Charles and Margaret (nee SUTHERLAND) RAWLINS of Rolleston-on-Dove, Staffs.

His parents married 9 October 1884 at St Mary’s, Tutbury, Staffs.  Charles died 8 March 1937 in Rolleston-on-Dove aged 85, and was buried at St Mary’s, Rolleston; Margaret died 1939 in the Lichfield, Staffs, district aged 84, and was also buried at St Mary’s, Rolleston.

Charles was born 11 February 1893 in Stapenhill, Derbys [not Staperhall, Staffs], and baptised 23 May 1906 at St Peter’s, Stapenhill.

On the 1901 Census, aged 8 he lived in Stapenhill, with his parents and three siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a grocer’s apprentice aged 18, he lived in Cross Rolleston, Burton-on-Trent, with his parents and three siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Burton-on-Trent, Staffs; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 22 June 1915, and was killed in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Charles’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing. Charles is possibly the C RAWLINS commemorated at Christ Church
