Pre War

Son of Samuel and Harriet (nee PIPER) RICHARDSON of Brighton; husband of Ada Jane SLAUGHTER (formerly RICHARDSON, nee JEFFERY) of Brighton.

His parents married 10 November 1877 at St Martin’s, Westmeston, Sussex.  Harriet died 1917 aged 62; Samuel died 1941 aged 82; both in the Brighton district.

Frederick was born 1881 in Brighton or Rodmell, Sussex, and baptised 24 July 1881 at St Peter’s, Rodmell.  He married 1906 in the Newhaven, Sussex, district.  Ada remarried 1919 in the Brighton district to Herbert H SLAUGHTER, and died 1961 in the Brighton district aged 79.

On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 9 he lived in Rodmell, with his parents and six siblings.  On the 1901 Census, a grocer’s carman aged 19, he lived in Brighton, with his parents and six siblings.  On the 1911 Census, an egg merchant’s carman aged 29, he still lived in Brighton, with his wife and no children.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Brighton, Sussex; was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and died at 11 Casualty Clearing Station of wounds received in action.

*1 The man is listed in the Watford research, however he does not appear to have any direct connection to Watford. The names or names need to be confirmed by viewing the Watford Roll of Honour. Perhaps F J in in fact F T Richardson who does have direct conection?
